Spousal Sponsorship for Foreign Spouse

If you are a permanent resident or a citizen of Canada married to a foreign national, the spousal sponsorship is the best category for your case. To qualify, you and your spouse must be of the age of maturity and the marriage must be legalized in the country it was performed. As a Canadian, you don’t require showing annual income but you must not be on social aid to apply for a spousal sponsorship. You need to earn sufficiently to provide for your spouse’s every need when he or she begins living with you in Canada.

During the application for spousal sponsorship, you must convince the immigration officials that the purpose of your marriage is genuine love, and not an excuse for your foreign spouse to migrate to the country. For a propelling proof of your love, you will have to submit evidence such as pictures of your families, wedding and honeymoon, proof shared bank accounts, tickets of traveling together, emails, chat logs and so on. In addition, your spouse will be interviewed by the visa officer to test the authenticity of your relationship.

Sponsorship for Live-in Relationship

If you and your foreign partner have not wedded each other but have had a genuine live-in relationship continuously for at least a year, you can apply for the common law sponsorship visa. You will have to give proof of your one year long cohabitation by showing co-signed lease agreement, utility bills at the same address in each other’s names, and the like. Furthermore, use other evidences such as photos, tickets, meeting families -- anything that can help to show your sincerity to each other. You may require attending a meeting with the immigration officer.

Sponsorship for Marriage-like Relationship

If you have an exclusive relationship with a foreign national but are not married or have live-in relationship, the conjugal sponsorship visa can help your cause. This is not a fiancé visa, however you must have a relationship that is as good as a marriage to qualify for this type of visas to Canada. You must provide solid proof of your past together such as joint travels, joint assets and so forth. If you have performed some sort of public declaration of dedication to each other through a ceremony or by other means, you must provide evidence. A good test to see if you qualify for a conjugal relationship is when outsides naturally assume you and your partner are married
