In a traditional Greek wedding day, the groom need to ask the bride' s father for his daughter' s hand in marriage, because the parent' s blessing is considered crucial for a happy life. Another tradition is for the best friend of the groom to accompany him to the church and be in charge of the ceremony (of course with the priest). He also places a couple of gold crowns usually made of orange blossoms on the heads of the groom and the bride. For the rest of the wedding, those two are honored as king and queen.

Others traditions like dishes that are smashed on the floor for good luck and money that is thrown at the musicians are a little more modern for weddings in Greece.
