Roll Cage-Meaning and Intricacies

By Julia Roger Subscribe to RSS | July 4th 2012 | Views:

For those of you who did not know, rollcage refers to a wheeled trolley or truck base with a cage vertical storage or metal mesh on top. They come with wheels or castors and can be maneuvered and pushed in and out of different distribution vehicles. The cage, moreover, can also be moved from places where cargo is loaded and subsequently unloaded. They completely remove the requirement for specialized costly transportation, normally used with fork lifts or pallets. Rollcage is known by several different names. These include cage trolley, parcel trolley, distribution trolley and roll container.

As discussed already, where it concerns the distribution of smaller goods and products like retail or parcels or such other cargo, it would be practical to use the rollcage or pallet. There are different varieties of the cages available in the market today. The list includes names like euro Pallet, wooden pallet, and blue GKN CHEP. These varieties of pallets are used by numerous people. This is the prime reason why they are so widely available and that too for cost effective rates. Despite being immensely useful, these pallets come with certain deficiencies. These problems, if not taken proper care in advance, might impact the cargo. Hence, be sure to know the variety you are using inside out before taking the final plunge.

Wooden pallets are known for their non-eco friendly ways. Being made of wood, they are rarely ever returned after a single session. There is always a requirement for more wood. Hence, using this rollcage can have an impact on the environment directly or indirectly. Wooden pallets may often require to be fumigated for avoiding contamination and infestation. They might also cause wanton damage to certain goods. The goods might suffer overhanging or get damaged from vehicle used to shift the pallet. Keeping such considerations in mind, it would be advisable to research the market well before choosing the rollcage. Also be sure to detect the roll bars carefully. At times, the roll bar might show signs of defects.
