Situated in the heart of the Highland region, Perth is a city of magic and natural beauty. Its rolling hill landscape is dotted with castles, fruit trees and villages that are accented by the longest river in the country, the River Tay. Once the capital of Scotland, Perth today remains a very important part of the country’s heritage.

Visitors who want to get in on all the sights and sounds of Perth are best to stay in one of the many hotels in Perth city centre. Here they will have access to the main pedestrian streets, fresh markets, local transportation and tourist information that can see them to any place they want to get to.

There are numerous things to do in Perth. The most popular sight to see and thing to do is visit Scone Palace. This palace, which attracts more than 100,000 visitors each year, is easy to get to as it sits just on the outskirts of town. This palace is where every Scottish king was crowned and was home to the Stone of Destiny for almost 500 years. The palace has more to it than just stones and history. It is also where beautiful collections of royal furniture, needlework, ivories, porcelain, clocks and other royal artefacts can be enjoyed. When you have finished the inside tour there are the 100 acres of immaculate gardens to explore. The grounds include a maze, a children’s playground, a picnic park, a coffee shop and a gift shop.

In the city of Perth, art collectors can gaze at the impressive works of JD Fergusson, a famous Scottish artist who gathered much of his inspiration from Matisse. His gallery is bursting with watercolour paintings.

For a more relaxed day of fun for the entire family, the Perth Leisure Pool is the perfect place for the energetic to enjoy a day together. This water fun park offers bubble beds, flumes, water channels, an outdoor lagoon, monkey jungle and a whirlpool where Mums and Dads can relax.
