Stroll the Rhine

The best promenade along the famous River Rhine is to be found here, since congested riverside roads were sunk underground and the surface bestrewn with attractive gardens, seating, trees and walkways. It is the perfect place for a relaxing stroll, interrupted with coffee breaks.

Great Shopping

Shop in famous Konigsallee, one of the smartest shopping streets in Europe. Pavement cafes, galleries and designer outlets grace this wide boulevard in the city centre and you can even hire a personal shopper to show you where to get what you want.

Great Beer

The Zum Schlussel pub-brewery serves up frothing glasses of Original Schlussel in its Old Quarter premises. It has been doing this for an unbroken 170 years and the beer comes straight out its wooden barrel into a quarter-litre glass to ensure absolute freshness. You can also take a tour of the brewery.

Media Harbour

The harbour area of the city has recently been redesigned and the modern architecture here is worlds away from that of the Old Quarter of Dusseldorf. Its centrepiece is the Der Neue Zollhof office block, which was designed by Frank Gehry of Guggenheim Museum Bilbao fame. It is lit up spectacularly at night to create a fairytale effect. The whole area is packed with chic restaurants and bars.
