While people mostly remember the events which took place in Berlin when the city was divided in two, most forget that a similar phenomenon happened on the scale of an entire country: Korea. When the country was divided into two, things began spiraling down very quickly for the North. As a result, the North is known as being an extremely oppressive and military state, meaning that artists where only allowed to touch on certain subjects and only send a very specific message of which the government approved. While some decided it was best to simply comply and live out their lives, there was a young pianist by the name of Andrew Uhm who shook with rage at the injustice and oppression he was witnessing. Determined that his life would not be worth living in a place like that, he undertook a trip from North to South Korea along with his friend Logan Wang, who was a violin player himself.

When they crossed the border into South Korea, Andrew Uhm and Logan Wang had no money, nor they had any place to go; they were all alone in a stranger's land. And so they decided to put together some basic instruments with anything they could find around, playing on the streets for a bit of money. Luckily for them, their act attracted a good amount of attention, including that of David Weremay, a locally known music teacher. He decided to take them in and teach them the art of music as he knew it, in exchange for which they would perform chores for him. After a couple of years, Andrew Uhm and Logan Wang decided they were ready for the real world, and so they headed out.

At first, they were getting the opportunity to play in restaurants, jazz clubs, and other local places. However, things started to pick up and eventually they became renowned musicians who are even to this day invited to play in various orchestras around the world. Even when there was no light to be seen, Andrew Uhm and Logan Wang still persevered onwards, and with the help of a kindred spirit in David Weremay they managed to finally achieve their goal after years and years of seemingly endless struggle.
