Is the iPhone 4S the Most Amazing Phone Yet
When Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone in 2007, he revolutionized the way the world looked at mobile technology. It instantly became one of the most talked about products ever. Thousands of Apple worshippers gathered around Apple stores to buy phones that boasted of never before computing facilities, wi-fi features, and a crisp screen that matched the computer screen. Not to mention, an intuitive touch screen!
Four years later, when Apple launched the iPhone 4S, millions of buyers stormed Apple stores around the world to lay their hands on the latest product from the Apple stable. In fact, just hours after the launch, approximately 4 million iPhone 4S’s were sold. This was despite the fact that the 4S was a mere upgrade to the previous version and not iPhone 5. So is the iPhone 4S the most amazing phone yet, or just another iPhone with some cosmetic changes:
Siri: This ‘humble personal assistant’ reads messages, takes dictation, reminds you of appointments, helps you locate restaurants in a specified place, and even helps you with direction. Of course, Google Inc.’s Android technology did try to include voice recognition features, but Siri takes it a notch further. It can follow natural language, understand complex commands, and is interactive.
Dual Core: The dual core A5 chip is a special feature in the iPhone 4S with 1GB of RAM. But this isn’t a completely new feature as was already used to power the iPad2. However, not everyone is enthused, as the LG Optimus 2X and the Motorola Atrix 4G already boast of the dual core power.
iCloud: This feature stores music, photos, documents etc. and seamlessly syncs with all your other devices. For instance if you’ve stored a document on Pages in your iPad, you can sync this data to be seen on your computer or your iPhone. It can be used to sync contacts, calendar, mail, Pages, Numbers and Keynote. Third party apps can also use iCloud. But the practical use of this feature isn’t without its share of pain and frustration.
8MP Camera: The official Apple website proudly claims that the iPhone 4S has 8MP camera and allows you to take pictures in different modes and with the least amount of light. But sadly, this feature too isn’t new. The Droid Bionic and the HTC Thunderbolt already have these features.
While the 4S is the most advanced phone in the iPhone range, it isn’t the coolest phone ever made. But does that stop millions of people from buying the iPhone? Certainly not!
