Some electronic and electrical devices are manufactured in a way that they can operate only at very high frequencies. Devices like radios, mobile phones, communication equipment are some of them. These devices are generally prone to suffer interference from other gadgets operating on the same frequency and in vicinity. This causes lower performance of these devices and fails to operate smoothly under these circumstances. Emi shielding plays a vital role in protecting the equipment significantly from such interferences and associated radiation. The output of the device is increased and this shielding maintains a direct relation with the circuit speed all the time.

Radiation associated with the operation of electronic gadgets also accounts for its poor performance. EMI interference is found to occur mostly due to interference of radiation discharged from the equipment. Devices mostly affected by this interference are laptops, computers and mobile phone. These devices are capable of functioning at higher frequencies and this creates more problems to shield the associated radiation emanating from the processors which are working at high frequency levels. Manufacturers of these devices encounter problems in designing because the general public demands for compact physical size, lesser weight, optimum efficiency along with much cheaper rates.

Shielding is very important for devices which are compact in shape and highly sensitive to interference. The shielding prevents the impact of unwanted noises and signals on the devices without hampering its performance. Most of the adverse effects caused due to interference are eliminated by shielding by absorbing and reflecting back the unwanted signals. With the advent of modern technology, the new shielding effect is capable of working in both ways – by absorbing as well as reflecting.

At times PVD Coating can also be used for shielding which is achieved by adding a conductive surface on the internal circuitry of the devices so that the unwanted radiation gets reflected, absorbed or filtered...
