Strategic Use of Promotional Products
Promotional products are a marketing ploy used in order to drive traffic to a website or a company for the purpose of enhancing sales. The use of promotional products has begun to increase over recent years as companies have found that traditional marketing tactics have not brought in the amount of sales that would justify their operating margins.
Companies have a number of items that they may choose from when deciding on the promotinal products that they will utilize in their marketing campaigns. These items range from mundane business cards and mugs to calendars, key chains, t shirts and even sweat bands. Many times the type of promotional products that are utilized in this type of blanket marketing campaign tend to reflect the demographic that the company is trying to attract. For obvious reasons if one were to try to attract an older demographic, they would not hand out promotional products that target teens or even twenty year olds.
The useage of promotional products is not exclusive to just corporations and companies either. Many smaller, hoe town businesses are beginning to realize the benefit and validity of using promotional products as well. These companies can either go door to door handing out products, or even set up an awareness booth at a county fair in order to get the word out about their business. These products keep the business name and logo at the forefront of the consumers' mind.
Generating business is one of the primary purposes of using promotional products. Marketing strategies in the use of these products can vary greatly. Some larger companies use these products as offerings at trade shows. While many companies do not believe that their competitors will use their products or services, this could be a remote possibility. Rather, many of these companies keep their competitors in mind as a means for joint ventures that could enhance not only their own sales, but also the sales of their competitors.
Trade shows are also a perfect place to get in touch with dealers and retailers. The promotional products and informational pamphlets will allow retailers and dealers to get a feel for what is available on the market. These individuals are always looking for new wares to peddle, and the promotional product will keep companies in their mind when they are seeking the new and innovative for their customer base. This type of exposure usually ends with a higher profit margin.
