An electrical heating element is a device that can convert electrical energy into heat. From home-use room heaters to large-scale industrial heat requirements, various types of heating elements are in use. These devices can either be purchased as a standard product or as a customized solution. In this article, we shall discuss the various types of heating elements that are commonly used in commercial, residential and industrial applications.

Here are some of the most commonly used electrical heating elements. Each of these features various sub-categories and can be modified according to specific requirements.

Flexible foil heaters: If you need immediate heat transfer, these are probably the most ideal investment. These flexible heaters comprise an etched-foil that is laminated between an insulating material that is soft and flexible. The circuits in such heaters are primarily of two types—heating and temperature holding. Since these heaters are flexible, they can be wrapped around an object or mounted on uneven surfaces. This particular variety of heaters is best known for its uniform heating ability and multiple voltages. Common applications include consumer products, military and transportation.

Tubular heaters: Such heaters are used for heating air, gases and liquids. They are classified as air heaters, immersion heaters, defrost heaters and industrial heaters. Tubular heaters can be designed and manufactured in various lengths, diameters, shapes, and voltage ratings. They can be precisely customized to honor the most complex heating challenges. As a user, you have the option to immerse these heaters, clamp them to a surface, install them in ducts, cast them into metals or even use them as radiant heaters. With the right modifications, you can efficiently use this electrical heating element in applications that are exposed to high-moisture conditions.

Waterbed heaters: These are among the most widely used heaters in the residential sector. In freezing weather conditions, water beds need to be kept warm to not only prevent the water from freezing, but also to provide comfort to the user. Waterbed heaters feature a heating circuit cast between polyester insulation materials that have a low electromagnetic field. Such heaters need to be small enough to easily pass through the opening of the waterbed. Another determining factor that should influence your purchase is low electricity consumption.

Electrical heating elements find interesting uses in industries such as transportation, telecommunications, military, medical care, food and beverage, and many more. These heaters should always be purchased from a company that has a proven track record for manufacturing safe and durable products. An electrical heating element can be entirely customized according to your requirements.

Electrical heating elements can be manufactured in a myriad of materials ranging from ceramics to silicone to polyester to metals. Thus, they can be seamlessly integrated into your application.
