States to fill budgetary gaps with money from mortgage settlement
Not much time had passed by in the settlement of the deal of the top mortgage lenders of the nation when the Governor of Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, made a claim that a huger portion of the money would be cut from the public universities as well as colleges would be cut so that a huge budget can be averted. He is one in the line of quite a few politicians who are keeping their eyes on the funds for the tasks that do not have anything to do with foreclosures. This deal that is worth 25 billion dollars is a like a golden opportunity for all. This is an amazing opportunity for all the governments of the states are looking at it like a thing where they can fill the budgetary gaps with the help of this multi dollar deal.
It is a very well know thing that most of the part of this money is given to the home owners who are negatively affected because of their mortgage crisis but some portion that is 2.7 billion dollars is also given to the 49 states that they can according to their own wish. This announcement was made by the attorneys some time ago.
Some of the states are making plans that they are going to put into use in helping out the homeowners who are struggling or may take same kind of steps. The state of Michigan is planning to help out homeless children who are affected because of foreclosures. But in addition to this many of the state are planning to make use of this amount of finances for the task of making their budgets get into a better position and many would be thinking more upon this idea in the coming weeks.
For most of the advocates of the customers, this is same as the diversion from the past tobacco settlement deal was done in the year 1998. During this time the governments of the states had received billions of money in this project that had not any thing to do with the curbing the problem of smoking.
