Racial discrimination in the workplace can be attributed to discriminatory conducts concerning race, color, ethnic origin, or nationality. Treating an employee in a less reasonable and favorable manner than any other employees is deemed an act of discrimination. Everyone is entitled by the law to prosecute any employer and bring that person to court if racial discrimination proved to have occurred. Before you lay down your complaint, you have to take note of the following key points.

1. Analyze your predicament comprehensively. Make sure that you are certain of what you want to convey, as well as the action that you want to be done.

2. If possible, and if you can still bear, try ignoring the actions of the wrongdoer. In this case, there will be chances that he or she will just stop surprisingly since you are not responding.

3. If the act is not that severe yet, try settling the situation by confronting the wrongdoer. Approach him or her in composed and subtle manner, with fine tone of voice so that your intention will not be given any negative interpretation.

4. If the circumstance seems to be getting serious and repetitive, then it is time for you to write a letter to the person in authority whom you can render your full trust as regards your employment site concern.

5. Get a legal advice by hiring an experienced and best lawyer who specializes in this case. Remember that once you have a lawyer on your side, you can be assured that you are on the right track.

On the other hand, other types of discrimination that employees can experience are as follows:

• Disability discrimination

• Gender discrimination

• Sexual Orientation discrimination

• Age discrimination

In California, the same with other states in U.S., racial discrimination in the workplace is highly prohibited. Any employer who is found responsible of committing such wrongful act is expected to face legal charges in court. Moreover, he or she might be asked to compensate for whatever damages caused to the plaintiff. The possible damages may include:

• Loss of wage (past and future)

• Pain and suffering

• Loss of social belongingness

• Loss of active lifestyle (may be due to lack of funds to suffice the person’s personal and social needs)

If you happen to be a victim of racial discrimination, hire a competitive and a first-rate attorney so that you will be given apt legal advices. Do not be afraid to suffer from retaliation from your employer because if he or she does it to you, then it might just mean that you are even more getting a favorable result.
