The Impact of Electronic Gadgets on Kids

My three years old nephew spends almost more than half of his day with the electronic gadgets. I wonder how he understands the way to handle the gadgets. When we were kids, we were quite unfamiliar with the use and handling of such things, but kids these days are far more different than the kids of our period. In fact, the supply of gadgets in the markets has also increased. New and attractive gadgets mostly attract the kids, and in fact, there are many gadgets for the kids as well.

My nephew has a small laptop which looks exactly like the laptops we use but the features are different. In fact, there are electronic devices for them in which they can listen to FM. A survey has found it out those kids below the age group of 10 years spend at least 7 to 10 hours in a day with the electronic devices like video games, computers and mobile phones. It has also been observed that kids who spend a lot of time with electronic gadgets have less attention span than those who do not spend too much of time with such gadgets.

With the development of modern technologies, children pay more and more attention towards the electronic devices. These days, parents also find it pretty easier to give them a gadget in order to make them sit in one place. Earlier, kids were not like the kids of present days. They used to spend a long part of time with their parents and also other family members. Many of them also used to get involved with different kinds of sports. Unlike them, now neither the parents are able to spend an ample time with their kids, nor do the kids have. However, there are still some families where some rules are set by the parents for their kids to play with the gadgets, though it is also true that the number of such families is very less.

These days, it is also seen that many parents fulfill their childrens’ demands by giving them cell phones at a very early age. They also find it easier to stay connected with their kids all through the day. It has also been found that children often take wrong advantages of that. They talk less in the phones and rather play all the latest games, use the Internet, the camera and all the other modern features. It also would be wrong to say that these gadgets leave only negative impacts on kids. In fact, the modern day schools also take help of these gadgets as powerful tools to make the kids aware of the innovations of the world.

The Internet is one of the tools that give us a window that opens up all the new prospects for us to be responsible global citizens. Electronic devices such as smart boards, projectors, 3D images and DVDs not only are of fun only to the kids but also help the teachers to explain different theories in an easier way to the kids. In fact, this also helps to create a positive environment in the classrooms.
