Every day and every moment, we keep on making decisions. Decision making is nothing but a process that includes making choices, solving problems, and selecting the best alternative. Sometime our decisions get influenced by our inner choices or conscience. But whatever may the working force behind taking a decision, many people become fickle while choosing the right path. To be a successful man, we need to strengthen our decision making skills. This skill can be developed in the childhood only. Those who have a high level of self esteem,

it is seen that most of the time they can take right path. For children, especially for students, this skill is very important as in our day to day life we come across many situation which can take us to the dilemma. When people develop a belief in themselves, they can easily tackle with any situation in life. Parents try to protect their children from every evil situation that they come across. But when they go into the bigger world, the children have to use their own thinking skills to choose the right and discard the wrong. Moreover, in today’s world, along with the technology, the crime rates are also increasing. The children become the easy target and thus it is very important to protect them.

There are many schools that provide special sessions on developing different skills among children. These sessions are vital in the developmental process of a child. Moreover, different games also help the kids in strengthening their decision making skills. Some of the ways to help your child in developing this skill are briefly discussed below:-

1-Chess is one of the most interesting games originated in India only. This ancient game was called ‘Chaturanga’ in its older times. Even in the Mahabharata also, the mentioning of chess or chaturanga is there. This game not only sharpens the thinking skills among kids, it is also helpful in developing choice making skills. In the game, the players need to thinks from different perspective as to how to defeat the enemy. In doing so, they actually start thinking the same way in their actual life also

2-Puzzles are other interesting games that children can play. You can choose from a group of puzzles game that is available in the market these days. When children get engaged in solving a particular puzzle, they actually search for ways through which they can solve it. In this process, a wrong turn can damage the whole game. Thus kids need to be conscious. So, in your child’s birthday, you can gift an age appropriate puzzle this year

3-If the child is old enough to understand what is good and what is not, ask the child to take a decision by own. But yes, you should also monitor whether the decision that your child has taken is right or wrong. Doing so can boost up child’s self esteem and level of confidence

4-By working with peers, students are able to recognize diversity in the views of their classmates while being held accountable, on an individual basis, for their own learning

Without a doubt, decision skills can be introduced successfully in a broad range of classroom settings to help students to become active and creative decision makers.
