Swivel or revolving chairs are office chairs that have a single leg in the center that allows the person to swing or spin the chair around without them having to get up from their seat. This is a very convenient addition to the typical office chair because this way the person sitting in it can move about and grab items from their desks without having to stand up, making their job a little bit easier. Most revolving chairs will also have what is called a gas lift that is used to help raise or lower the height of the chair so that each individual person may be able to adjust the height of the chair to accommodate to their own needs.

Revolving chairs are used in various types of office settings including doctor’s offices, financial institutions, as well as in schools and other professional occupations. These chairs can be large or small, with high backs or in a bar stool style that has no back to it at all. All revolving chairs will also have several wheels on the bottom so that the person sitting in it will be able to move freely across the width of their desks without having to stand. This can usually cause some visible wear on carpeted or hard wood floors, that is why there are floor protectors that are designed for revolving chairs to sit and slide on so that there will be no damage to the floor below.

These highly functional pieces of office equipment have actually been around for quite some time. Different variations of revolving chairs were used in the past to help with adjusting the height for musicians and their musical instruments. Two of our early Presidents, Thomas Jefferson and Rutherford B. Hayes had a hand in making adjustments to these already useful revolving chairs. Jefferson added a writing panel to one of the armrests along with a footrest to the bottom of his revolving chair while Hayes was known to use a revolving chair that was carved from steer horns while he was still a Governor.

There are endless variations of the modern day revolving chairs available today to offer us the most amounts of comfort and support. There are adjustable armrests that allow us to sit more comfortably and revolving chairs are available manufactured out of a variation of materials such as leather, polyvinyl and wood. Revolving chairs allow us to multi-task much easier in the office. And these days they are not only found in typical office settings but also in the home next to the family computer, and in other occupational situations such as music or video editing and computer operators. Many people love revolving chairs because they allow a smooth transition from one area to the other while some people appreciate the many different styles that are available for them to choose from. No matter what your favorite aspect is, revolving chairs are the perfect addition to any office setting. You can find a wide selection of revolving chairs when you visit Chairs Bazaar.
