Retractable Window Grilles - Added Peace of Mind for Home and Business Owners
Security an understandable concern
Amongst the concerns that come with owning a home or business, security is inevitably high up the list. There is, after all, a natural human instinct to safeguard against unwanted intrusion, and protect one’s possessions and property. Moreover, there is an underlying need for physical protection, to feel safe and sound, both at home and in business life. Indeed, recent statistics add solid reasoning to these natural instincts for protecting property. During 2010, burglaries in the UK hit a seven-year high: the figure of 745,000 reported burglaries represented a 14 per cent increase on the previous year.
Retractable window grilles
It is little wonder therefore that householders and business owners alike are attracted by the significantly increased protection offered by retractable window grilles. These cunning security features are constructed of brushed aluminium, and are fitted internally behind single or multiple windows. When fully extended, they present an imposing latticework of steel, with diamond-shaped gaps, conveniently allowing light in to the room they protect. The grilles can be easily retracted by pulling them open from the centre as one would draw back curtains. Once retracted, they are very unobtrusive inside the room as they compress easily in to the window housing.
An aesthetically appealing solution
One reason for the growing interest in retractable window grilles is that they solve the problem of how to enhance the security of a property without losing its aesthetic appeal. For homeowners, when the grilles are fully extended, the diamond-shaped holes let in plenty of light and are quite attractive. Visitors are unlikely to be put off, or get the feeling that the owner is unwelcoming. Rather, these grilles simply give the honest impression that a homeowner is taking simple, practical steps to make their property safer, without getting too carried away and attempting to reconstruct Fort Knox.
Business owners find these grilles an equally appealing means of keeping out intruders. As business properties are often empty during unsociable hours – when burglaries are most likely to take place - it is not difficult to see why. Office workers are not intimidated by the grilles, since they let in light, and it is possible to have a window open to let in air before extending the grilles. Company visitors simply take these security measures in their stride.
Window grilles can add to the overall appeal to a home. Some property owners even go beyond the basic models and acquire ornamental grilles which truly add to the aesthetics of a home.
A practical and effective security solution
As well as providing protection whilst not detracting from the appeal of a building, there are further solid practical reasons for installing retractable window grilles. They are most certainly effective in deterring burglars. They simply pose too big a challenge for burglars, and they will most likely to move to the next building along rather than tackle these grids of strong galvanised steel. In the same way, these retractable window grilles are a strong enough deterrent for even the most determined vandal. For a great number of people, window grilles offer the security and reassurance that their home or business will be safe.
