Vinyl Cladding – the Sporty Choice

By Ben Bradshaw Subscribe to RSS | December 13th 2011 | Views:

One of the most popular forms of external cladding has been vinyl cladding. External cladding forms an important part of buildings in protecting the exteriors, and in prolonging their durability and longevity by taking the brunt of external forces that may act adversely on the walls. While most forms of external cladding are meant for the dual purposes of protection as well as beautification, the twin benefits are seen to be even more prominent in the case of vinyl cladding. And clearly vinyl cladding has been holding the tag of the favourite when compared with some of the other alternatives available for external cladding.

Vinyl cladding is the product of fabrication of polyvinyl chloride, popularly known as PVC, and has seen rising levels of acceptance in the external beautification of homes right from the days it was invented. However, it is not entirely the function of PVC that is in action, as Vinyl Cladding provides a lot more functionality to external cladding, in terms of strength and flexibility, its ability to take in impact of various kinds and forces, as well as its shine and colour that add to the quality of the exteriors. With time, vinyl cladding has also advanced in terms of the manufacturing process and the technology behind it, making it a durable and reliable alternative to be used on the exteriors.

It is the versatility of vinyl cladding that has made it a favourite as against some of the other forms of external cladding, such as wood, aluminium or fibre cement siding. One of the main advantages that Vinyl cladding has in comparison with wooden cladding is that there is no additional work involved, such as painting or staining. The vinyl cladding is done and completed during the manufacturing phase and it is the completed work that is installed on the exteriors, making for a simple work that requires no added responsibilities towards having them fit. And more importantly, there is absolutely no maintenance involved, unlike in the case of wooden cladding, where painting and maintenance take up an important part of the exterior’s durability. Low maintenance and a completed product that is made in large scale by manufacturers mean that the costs are limited, and hence make up for added value and reduced outlays. If you consider the final looks that can be achieved and the way it adds value to property, viyl cladding would win hands down in the race for sporty exteriors.
