External Cladding – Choose what is right for you

By Ben Bradshaw Subscribe to RSS | December 13th 2011 | Views:

Houses, built with much care and attention and involving huge investment and expenses, need to be maintained appropriately. After all, home is made only in a protected and secure environment, and the building that makes your house has to be well protected and secured to ensure that your investments last longer and your peace of mind stays in place. That precisely is the purpose behind external cladding, where your house, with its varied interiors and exteriors, is covered safely from being corroded by external influences and factors such as weather, dust, heat, water and pollution. Since the walls form the first line of defence against the whole range of factors that afflict the house, external cladding is such an important aspect, whose importance is never to be overlooked.

The kind of external cladding that you would opt for, however, depends on the specific circumstances surrounding your house. And there is quite a range that you can choose from, depending on what you want and what nature would dictate. You need to consider such factors as the kind of weather that you would find normally in your part of the world, whether the heat would be extreme or the cold would be biting, whether it would rain cats and dogs or it the wind would literally blow the roof off – factors such as these dictate the kind of external cladding that you would want to have put in place, along with, of course, your own tastes, styles and preferences.

External cladding is available in the forms of vinyl cladding, metal cladding and also wood cladding. Each one of these external cladding materials and styles has their own unique advantages and disadvantages, and your choice would typically depend on what your considerations are. For instance, it might make sense to get into external cladding made of metal, if you are located in an environment that has both extremes of climates, right from the severe cold temperatures to soaring heat. When you could not choose either of the two, metal for external cladding would be able to give the building the extra strength, since extremes of weather would bring about structural movements in the internal parts of the building. And if you were concerned about the dropping mercury, you could use wood for external cladding, which would give both the comfort as well as the finish that you could be proud of. Choose what would suit your unique needs and make the most of your investment.
