Windsor Chairs- Stylish Colorful and Versatile
The windsor chairs are special wooden chairs that come with a bent wooden frame with the back well supported by spoke shaped spindles. Though, they have gained in immense popularity in the 19th century, it saw its genesis years ago in the late 1700s. They are available in different shapes and forms, the primary structural differences including variations in the shape of its back and presence or absence of arms.
They take their name from its place of origin. To put the matter in the right perspective, they were first designed by the wagon wheel designers working near the Windsor Castle in Great Britain.
Coming to the top preferred varieties, the one that is the commonest of all is the low back or the hoop seats that can be widely found in many places. They are unique in the sense that do not have any arms and have a bend wooden frame on its back along with a series of erect vertical spindles.
Speaking of its features, it varies from type to type. On one hand while the come back seats have an elongated rectangular back with rounded arms, the fan back designs chairs are associated with large sized spindles in its frames thereby creating a gap from either arm.
As suggested earlier, they can be classified into several categories, the most popular of them being the low back, sack back, round back, rod back and fan back models.
Some of the later developed innovative designs have added utilities in addition to its normal benefits. For instance, the writing arm chairs have a writing surface added to its arms, which makes it a truly versatile piece of timber which can be used for sitting, relaxing or even writing.
