The best conditions to refinish your deck are in the summer months when it's hot and dry. If you have to learn how to refinish a deck during the winter then make sure it's in a weather break. If you suspect bad weather is coming and you’re in the middle of refinishing your deck, try to cover it up to keep it as dry as possible. You can use a tarp with strong tape to cover your work surface, but sometimes that doesn’t even work. The best thing you can do if you’re in the middle of staining is to take it off and start over again.
