How Far Should You Go?
Nowadays when one turns on the TV there are interior design shows coming one after another. I have to admit that I have gotten rather addicted to all these lifestyles shows, especially interior design shows. I love to watch all those makeover shows where they take an apartment or a house and they redo it from the scratch. I can’t say that I live in an apartment that is trendy and that follows every rule in interior design but I would love to live in one, I have always wanted to. Some time ago I noticed myself walking around my home paying attention to things and how they should be. I started imagining the things seen on TV in my home and how they would look. One day I decided to finally do it and renovate the house according to the interior design rules and instructions.
The idea itself was alluring and the more things I listed that needed fixing the more the list grew, and once I started counting the costs I almost choked. Renovating a two room apartment would cost me 50.000 US dollars! At that point the reality hit me: I could in no way afford this kind of renovation, so the only choice was to start removing things from the list. First, I decided to paint some walls instead of using wall paper. Second, I minimized the kitchen reno and instead of replacing all the cupboards, I would just change the doors. Also, instead of buying new furniture, I would try to come up with solutions to update them.
Nonetheless, one thing that I would not compromise was a fireplace. I had wanted a fireplace since I was a child and I would get one now. I looked into several companies and was really struggling with whether to buy a cheaper one or one that was a bit more expensive but was guaranteed to be of high level of engineering. After several calculations I decided on the quality fireplace from Uunisepät. In the long run, buying a fireplace from a company, such as Uunisepät, is more cost effective than buying a cheap one. Also, Uunisepät install their own fireplaces so they answer for their quality and installation expertise.
I have now done all the research and now begins the most exciting part: the renovation itself. The most important things is to think your reno through well and try to come up with solutions that save you money where it is wise to save.
