Are you sad with the size and shape of your breasts? Breast implants are the best option that offers a permanent solution. However, before you go and jump on the operating table, it is important that you understand what a breast implant is and how it goes about.

Take a closer look at Breast implants

Breast implant is a medical procedure that requires surgery to fix or correct the size and form of the human breast. Both the male and female gender undergoes breast implants. For the women, it could either be for beauty enhancement or a medical reason like augmentation after mastectomy. The male gender who undergoes breast implants is mainly the trans-gender type who wants to have a female breast form.

Where breast implants all started

Studies of how to correct the form and size of the breasts is not new but extensive research of breast enhancement intensified in the nineteenth century. However, it was not until 1962 that the first truly successful breast implant was performed. As technology continued to take leaps and bounds so did the development of breast implants until it became what it is today, a truly safe and effective method of making the breasts look better than it was before. Of course it is worthy to note that the success of the procedure highly depends on the medical practitioner who will perform the surgery. Therefore it is very important that a breast implant should be performed only by a licensed, medical specialist and no other.

Materials and procedures

The most popular devices used for breast enhancement today are either a sterile, saline solution or a gelatinous silicone implant. Furthermore, the reasons why these breast enhancement devices are implanted have been classified as:

1. A primary reconstruction method – this is to replace tissue damage caused by trauma, disease, or breast deformity.

2. A revision or reconstruction procedure – this is to correct a previous surgery that may have not gone well.

3. A primary enhancement or augmentation process – this is to generally change the size and form of the breasts.

FAQ of Breast implants

It is a fact that a person's self esteem is highly affected by how important the shape and size of the breast is perceived to be. The self esteem has an even deeper psychological impact on women who has undergone surgical breast removal or mastectomy. Thanks t the continued research and development of breast implants, the procedure is now safe and really effective and it has undoubtedly helped a lot of women gain confidence and happy with their looks.
