Some Issues That Can Be the Cause of Snoring

Snoring is not just a problem for you who suffer it, but it is also a problem for your partner who sleeps within you. It is true that snoring would not really affect your sleep. However, it is very annoying for the others who are sleeping around you. Your partner perhaps can't sleep well when they hear you are snoring loudly. It becomes the most irritating thing during their sleep. They might try to wake you up in order to stop it.

Snoring can be stopped by some treatments, changing your lifestyle, and or changing the way you sleep. However, before you choose any treatment or any other solutions to stop your snore, it is highly recommended to you to determining the cause of snoring first. Since, the cause of snoring might be different in each person.

Generally, there are some issues that cause people snoring. Those issues can be:

Throat muscles weakness

During the sleeping, the weakness of throat muscles make the throat will close. It will block of the air flow.

Colds or allergies

Obstruction inside the nose makes it harder to breathe and might lead to snoring.


Not enough physical exercise and eating too much can increase your body weight. Overweight can make the fat getting in and around the throat. This can also lead people to snoring. Since there is not enough tone of muscles, the airflow is likely to failure regularly and it is resulting in loud snoring.


Alcohol can reduce the response of brain. The muscles of people who drink alcohol relax a lot more than people who don't. It makes the throat flaps collapse easily and leads to nasal irritation as well as obstruction that will result in snoring. Therefore, people who consume alcohol seem to snore much more than to people who do not.


Smoking can cause irritation on nasal cavity and throat. This results in irritation which narrows the sinus airways and even more. Therefore, it leading to snoring after the people is sleeping.

Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a situation when someone suffers breathing interruption which ca last few seconds to minutes. It might happen several times while sleeping. Therefore, people who suffering sleep apnea might cause them snore. Furthermore, snoring which is caused by sleep apnea is very risky and in some cases can be deadly. Beside the causes that mentioned before, there are also various causes of snoring, such as miss pointed jaw, sleeping on your back, the tissues at the top of airways touching each other, nasal problems, and many other causes.
