The anti-tumor properties of the maitake and the Agaricus mushrooms inhibit the growth of cancer cells and are thought to boost the good effects of chemotherapy and other cancer treatment procedures. The fact that mushrooms also help keep the body's immune system in good shape is also a boon for cancer patients who have to undergo intense procedures that required radiation.

Medicinal mushroom supplements can also help prevent heart-related problems like high blood pressure or high cholesterol levels.
