After gallbladder surgery, one should be really careful about his or her dietary habits. A wrong diet can be very harmful to your health. Food in fact plays an important part in your healing post surgery.. In most cases, it is the poor food habits that lead to the removal of the organ. It is always recommended to take several meals after the gallbladder surgery rather than the regular three meals that we take each day. This will decrease the necessity of bile in our body. The main purpose of controlling your diets after the surgery is to limit the fat content of your body.

After your gallbladder surgery, your diet must ideally contain only liquid food. Slowly and steadily, the liquid food should be replaced by the solid food. This is done as your digestive tract is still healing from the scars of surgery and solid food in the initial stages can lead to nausea. One should not be forced to eat solid food as early as possible and should be left to the person to change from liquid to solid food. After the surgery, the doctor will advise you to eat certain foods and to prevent eating something. The food containing fat and oil in high content should be barred from your food chart. This is because the very purpose of your gallbladder is to neutralize the fat present in your body. After its removal, it is really difficult to digest the fat and oil.

Food causing intestinal gases should be totally banned from the patient’s food list. Vegetables like radish, cabbage, turnips, sweet potato and cauliflower are some of them. It should be noted that the most general side-effect after gallbladder surgery is diarrhea. Thus, certain liquids and beverages should not be taken.
