An Artificial Respiratory Mechanism
The Cpap Machine is an artificial way to give the patients respite from some of the respiratory diseases. The full form of CPAP is Continuous Positive Airway Pressure. The name itself explains the meaning and purpose of the machine. The most basic function of this machine is to provide treatment to the patients who are suffering from the disease of sleep apnea. It is also used to give artificial respiration to people who are in their most critical situations in the hospitals or to babies who are just born and have problem in breathing. To brief, the Cpap Machines are used when a person has a respiratory failure. It requires intensive care for the hospitals to use this machine for their patients. Sleep apnea is the main disease which is cured through this machine. This disease affects both adults and children. Some of the symptoms of this disease are excessive sleeping during the day time, abnormal breathing while sleeping, snoring, pause in breathing while sleeping and many more. These symptoms may give birth to sleep apnea and cause many problems in the nervous and respiratory system of the patient.
Advantages of Automatic Machine
There are two types of CPAP machines; the regular and the automatic machine. The automatic machine has several advantages over the regular machine. The first and the most important advantage is that the automatic machine does not supply a constant pressure to the patient’s body. Instead it works on a feedback mechanism which takes response from the body of the patient and adjusts the pressure supplied to the body of the patient. If the feedback mechanism senses that the patient is not having a breathing problem, then the pressure will be low and vice versa. It is often seen that people suffering from sleep apnea, at least have their sleep in normal position during some part of the time. Hence the automatic Cpap Machine senses these times and supplies pressure in accordance with the patient. The patient using new machines can easily tolerate this pressure. Moreover, the automatic machine comes with two in one compatibility. This feature of the machine is very unique. It has basically two machines fitted inside it rather than just one. The other machine can be used to supply constant pressure to the patient’s body as with the regular machine, when needed. This flexibility in the design of the automatic machines is very advantageous and proves to be very beneficial for the beginners.
There are many accessories to be used while using the machine. The most important Cpap Supplies is the mask which is to be put on the patient’s nasal area so that effective pressure may be given. The mask should be correctly fit to the patient failing which the device may not work properly. The filter which is attached to the CPAP machine is required to be charged on a regular basis. Other important accessories are the forehead spacers and the mask cushions. The tubes must also be replaced on a regular basis. Hence, Cpap Machines are a lifeline for the patients suffering from respiratory diseases.
