Efficient Data Management and Backup Performance with Sony AIT 2 Turbo Tape Solution

In today’s internet-driven environment, your business must be flexible enough to quickly adapt to the evolving market trends and take on the challenges of growing organizational databases. Your business future is not secure unless you install a backup storage system. Viruses, hardware failures, power outage and human errors (accidental over-writes, erasures etc.) are few of the common threats that can corrupt your sensitive business information or wipe it out from the primary storage device.

In event of such disaster, you can resume your business operations by restoring the lost information from the data backup. If there isn’t any backup data, then it would be merely impossible to continue the business operations.

Customers of low-end to midsized industry trust the Sony’s popular AIT (Advanced Intelligent Tape) turbo system. This tape format allows scalability and seamless connectivity to the various computing systems operating in small to mid-sized companies. Sony AIT2 turbo is an economical and high-capacity tape storage solution that clearly outshines in financial industry and SMB marketplace. AIT2 turbo is the most compact tape-based solution that offers unique features like ALDC compression functionality and industry-leading recording density.

AIT2 turbo cartridge features a handsome native capacity of 80GB. Sony has designed two AIT2 turbo tape models, which are TAIT2-80N and TAIT2-80C. In addition to AIT 2 turbo drives, both of these tape models delivers excellent performance with AIT-3 Ex and AIT3 drives as well. “Remote memory in cassette (R-MIC)” has been embedded in the TAIT2-80C tape model that stores usage history and directory information. The drive reads this information, which accelerates the data access and also contributes to the significantly reduced media loading/ejection times.

For greater media compatibility and efficient installation within a smaller footprint, Sony introduces table-top and internal AIT2 turbo drive units. Users also have the flexibility to mount up to 2 drives within a rack-mount kit, thus enabling them to address the storage needs of their multifunctional IT centers without compromising on reliability. AIT2 turbo drives are well-renowned for their exceptionally high speed of 12 Mbps (native) that helps improve the storage efficiency with the modern database applications.

Sony is the leading supplier in tape industry, and has the widest range for the low-end to mid-sized data centers. You can count on

DGD-120P, DDS3 tape

LTX200GWW, LTO2 backup tape

DGDAT72, Sony DDS5 tape

LTX400G, LTO3 media tape

The base film of AIT-2 turbo tape is more robust and lasts longer than the rival tapes. It features the innovative DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) protective costing that has proved to be more durable as compared to the conventional metal oxide tapes. That is why the AIT2 turbo tape delivers an exceptional useful life of 30000 end-to-end passes. Dust and debris can affect the reliability, but Sony has incorporated a smart solution “automated head cleaner” to help overcome this common problem. The result is that AIT2 turbo drives seamlessly achieve the best MTBF rating of 300,000 hrs. This compact AIT-2 turbo system is the ideal choice for the fast backups and long term investment protection.
