If the time has come to replace your current cooling or air conditioning system you might find that you have more options available to you than at any other time. Before you simply choose to simply replace the cooling system that you already have you might want to consider evaporative coolers and how they can benefit your home.

While refrigerated air conditioners are better known for cooling the air, evaporative coolers are a great option for many households and will also cool the air quite efficiency. The difference between refrigerated air conditioning and evaporative air conditioning is that evaporative coolers are based on how cooling actually takes place in nature. As water evaporates it cools the area around it, so this basic science can also be applied to the home.

There are two different types of evaporative coolers for you to choose from, but basically an evaporative cooler pulls air through damp evaporative pads. The heat associated with the hair evaporates in the water in the pads and the moist air is sent back out of the unit through the venting. An indirect evaporative cooler is a great option for homes and offices that do not need humidity pumped into the air.

Regardless of the type of cooler you choose, one of the biggest benefits of choosing this type of cooling is the cost. An evaporative cooler isn't just a lot less expensive when you purchase and install it, it is cheaper to run, as well. The savings isn't just a few dollars, it is usually about an eight of the cost of a traditional air conditioner.

In dry climates an evaporative cooler is beneficial because it doesn't just cool the air; it also makes the air more moist. This moist air is beneficial for the health and the comfort of the home in those climates where there is very little moisture in the air.

If you are looking to make your home as energy efficient as possible, evaporative coolers really are the best option. You will use about a quarter of the energy that you would with a traditional air conditioner, and with ever rising costs of energy this is a substantial savings. While these coolers use water, generally the energy savings will more than cover the cost of the water that you are using with the system.

Evaporative coolers are a great addition to the homes in terms of the quality of the air that you are breathing, as well. Whereas you might find that the air smells stale in a home or office that is air conditioned, if you use an evaporative cooler you will not find that the air has any strange smells. It is a way of cooling the home that actually improves circulation and ventilation of the home.

As you can see, there are a lot of great reasons to consider evaporative coolers for your home. Before you go ahead and install a traditional air conditioner, you should take some time to consider the benefits of evaporative cooling and how it could better your home and pad your pocketbook. All of the benefits are hard to ignore, especially when compared to the other options.
