What will you do if in case of emergencies like a disaster hits and you have not planned any food storage?

It’s not only that you're an exception in this situation, as the typical household has a week's or may be a month’s supply of food in hand. The small amounts of these basic items are not sufficient in case of such emergencies. These may include isolation by snow, a flood, a cyclone, or an earthquake. Such a disaster has the possibility of cutting you off from others and shutting you off from many resources simply take it for granted. So it’s better if you are prepared beforehand even if you don’t live in areas prone to disasters. To begin planning the emergency preparedness food, one can start with the standard items like grains, beans, dehydrated milk, sugar, salt, oil, and seeds. After a disaster hits, you should not survive on bread and milled grains but combining them with dehydrated and freeze dried food products results in a regular diet. Another aspect to be kept in mind is the lifespan of these items as the items will be kept away for a long duration and may experience some deterioration. Emergency Preparedness food including your basics and long-term food storage packages must be kept in an airtight environment. Once opened; they should be kept in a cool, dark, and dry place. An ideal place can be a basement, cabinet or dry crawl space but not too high to get to. And the surrounding area should be free from other items like, chemical fumes or cleaning products which can enter the containers of these food items.

If the food storage is already done, it will give you a peace of mind in the event of a disaster. But remember do not forget adding your favorite items such as coffees, teas, hot chocolates, candies, or anything else that you consider a luxury or comfort food item.
