The Need and Importance of Books

I used to be a quite child and had a little “not to mingle with anyone” attitude. I didn’t have a very good network of friends also, so I made books my best friend. People used to call me weird in my childhood days but now I realize that the idea of making books my friend helped me a lot in many ways. The more you read books, the more your area of knowledge broadens up. I have read more than two hundred books in these twenty years of my life and now I don’t try to escape from the situations where I can be asked anything from any corner.

Since ages books have been proved to be the real companions of human beings. Books are one of the many sources of learning from which people can gather a lot of knowledge. People find it boring to go through an entire book but once they get interest in it, none can stop them from completing the books. Books are silent, non-living and insensitive but give you the best company. They always provide company to their readers in both the good and bad phases of life.

When school students show their inclination towards books, parents should not restrict them from reading different genres of books. If they read only textbooks, then they will get to know only about the things that any other person knows. They should equally be allowed to read even magazines too. We think magazines do not contain good information but even fashion magazines also give a lot of useful information. Different kinds of books provide different kinds of knowledge and it helps the children in their later phase of life.

Books are of many categories and it is the interest of the people which they find the most attention-grabbing to spend time with. Some love reading novels, some are keen about current magazines, and some are fond of books that are related to articles and quotation. There are many children magazines that are good and informative for the children and parents should encourage them to read those.

It is advisable to read books, not because they are informative but also because they are good source of entertainment and recreation. The more time spend time with books, the more your array of knowledge will increase. The best thing about books is that you can keep the information of book as documents for your entire life which you cannot do in case of Television or radio. Following only one genre of book is also a kind of restricting yourself to a certain limit. It is always good to run your eyes through different genres of books.

Most of the children are found to be not interested in books. Since children imitate their parents from their childhood, therefore parents should develop a habit of reading books. Children find it an obvious activity and slowly they also develop the same habit within themselves. In today’s world it has become very important to be knowledgeable because the entire world is running after knowledge. Therefore, parents should make it a routine activity for the children to read books at least when they go to bed.
