A Gurukul is a type of school in India since the ancient times, residential in nature, with shishyas living in proximity to the guru, often within the same house. In a Gurukul, shishyas reside together as equals, irrespective of their social standards, learn from the guru and help him in his day-to-day life, including the carrying out of mundane chores such as washing clothes, cooking, cleaning etc.

While living in a Gurukul the students had to be away from his house and family just like today’s residential schools. The guru-shishya tradition is a hallowed one in the Indian culture and even today some schools follow this culture to impart quality education to budding future of India. These residential schools create equilibrium by adopting the ancient technique of Gurukul education, but with a scientific edge.

By doing this these schools not only produce a citizen who is abreast with the changing times, and yet rooted in their value system. They create modern student yet with a touch of culture. Parents send their children to boarding or residential schools to make their kids strong in mind and heart. They want their kids to stand out in society and be number one. That’s why they choose school with good surrounding environment, calm and soothing ambience for their complete mind and body development.

The Indian Public School established in the year 2001 located at Mrityunjaydham, Dehradun is such school that not only follows Gurukul system but is also modern in nature. The school endeavors to make a difference to your child's life. The Indian Public school also understands that with the rapid changes in lifestyle among today's Indians, it is important to strike a balance between age-old traditions and modern day outlook.

The Indian Public School is a co-educational, English medium and residential in nature located in one of the most clean and green environment in country, and offers classes I to XII, affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.

The main objective of the School is to foster values of life in the children and training them at all levels, ensuring the promotion of rich Indian values. The Indian Public School strives to be known for its excellence in teaching, by providing its students with highest quality instruction, library and lab resources required for comprehensive learning and bringing out the hidden talents of the students.

This school, situated in a sprawling, 120 acre campus with sylvan surroundings has well equipped classrooms, state of the art Hostels for boys and girls separately, clean and hygienic dining hall, dispensary, libraries and various laboratories. Surrounded by hills on all sides and having a thick tree cover the campus virtually nestles in the lap of nature, free of any kind of pollution which provides a nice environment for various sports activity including trekking and biking facilitated by school.

The best part of this school is that they have their own farms, dairy and bakery through which they can provide 100% natural food to their students for a complete healthy life. That’s why they call themselves modern Gurukul with focus on modernity with touch of culture.
