Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, Operations, Logistics, Communication, Retail, International Business Relations etc are some of the most common fields of study and specialisation the MBA courses. MBA doesn’t only provide education and knowledge; it also helps you develop the interpersonal skills like leadership, entrepreneur and managerial techniques etc. In most of the Universities and colleges, the span of MBA courses is two years.
A student has to undergo a process, to fulfil the eligibility criteria of the B-schools. He will have to appear for the entrance tests like CAT (Common Entrance Test)/ MAT (Management Aptitude Test)/ XAT (Xavier’s Aptitude Test), SNAP etc. and score a certain percentile. Based on this percentile score, they get a call letter from the respective colleges (depends upon their preference list of colleges while filling up the form for the entrance tests) thereafter followed by a Group Discussion and a Personal Interview round.
MBA programs can be categorised into two types: Full time MBA and Part time MBA. Full time programs are usually of two years durations and in most of the cases students have to attend regular classes as well as lectures. In this case the students remain within the campus along with residential and fooding facilities.
Part time MBA programs can again be divided into several types like Distance MBA programs and Executive MBA programs. You can do these courses while working as well.
Most of the Distance MBA programs are online. All study materials and tests are conducted online. Students do not have to attend classes. Every student consists of an ID provided from the college through which he logs in to the online college classroom. Video classes and online chats are also arranged so that it is easier for the students to interact with their professors. Most of the notes given to the students online are either in MS word or PDF format.
Executive MBA programs are mainly one year courses. The eligibility criteria are also different. A student will only be eligible for an Executive MBA program when he has a certain amount of work experience. People who are working can also ask for assistance from the Human Resource Department of their respective organisations as regards the program fees. Infact there are companies which offer a certain amount of the course fee to the employee working there for a particular tenure. These conditions are generally mentioned in the appointment letter or the contract signed by an employee.
