“You will get ‘Moksha’ if you could complete the holy journey to Amarnath”, this is the belief with that millions of Hindu devotees from across the country flock to the sacred Cave of Amarnath: a mystic adobe of Lord Shiva situated amidst the snowy peaks of Himalaya. History of Amarnath Cave and its Yatra is said to be 5000 years old, and is documented in many religious texts including the Nilmat Puran, Bhrigu Sanhita and Kalhan. Someone who completes the journey would be able to pray in front of a giant iced Shiva-lingum that takes place in the divine cave every year in the month of Shravan.

Sheshnag: Beauty of this place is definitely hard to surpass over for Amarnath pilgrims. Enriched with grandeurs of nature and unchallenged religiousness, Sheshnag is really a place to be for those on holy Amarnath journey. It’s famous for a picturesque greenish blue lake and a mountain with seven peaks resembling ‘Sheshnag’ – a mythical snake with seven heads. This sacred place is about 30 km from Pahalgam.

Amarnath Cave (Pavitra Gufa): Spirituality at this place will leave its mark on you. Surrounded natural splendors here are a feast to eyes, and divine experience of catching glimpse of holy Shiva-lingam can satiate your fantasy to the core. The amazing ‘pavitra gufa’ is the main attraction of Amarnath Yatra, which is believed to be an abode of Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati for a short span of time. The cave was selected by Lord Shiva to narrate the secret of immortality to his better-half ‘Parvati’. It’s believed that someone who prays in front of the cave will have no re-birth.
