Top 5 Sikh Temples in India

The foundation stone of Sikhism was laid in India by the one and only Guru Nanak. The doctrine of Sikhism believes in one god and one religion. Sikhism started spreading its wings in India in 1500 B.C. in the district of Punjab, which is now shared by Pakistan and India. The doctrine of Sikhism was spread in India by Guru Nanakji and his nine Sikh gurus.

The last Sikh Guru was Guru Gobind Singh. He formed a community of Khalsa for spreading thought and action of Sikhism. He developed khalsa into a different form reminding them of their obligations. Often Indian visa travelers have noticed some of the Sikhs, carrying a knife along with them. In the year 1999, Sikh community celebrated the 300th birth anniversary of Khalsa.

Sikhs consider Gurudwara as their place of worship. It is a place where Guru Granth Sahibji, which is the religious textbook of the Sikh’s, is kept. This book is of great importance for the Sikhs and commands great respect. Indian Visa travelers can find large and small Gurudwaras across the country where Sikhs offer their prayer to God commonly known as Guru Gobind Singhji. Although Sikhism originated in India but Indian Visa travelers can finds its followers all across the globe. Sikhs believe in respect and courage. The Indian Army has a separate regiment for Sikhs.

Some of the renowned gurudwaras in India are at Amritsar Harmindir Sahib commonly known as Golden temple, at New Delhi Banghla Sahibji, at Chandigarh Anandpur Sahibji and at Himalayas Hemkund Sahibji.

Golden temple: Amritsar is the sacred city of Sikhs just because of the Harmindir Sahibji Gurudwara well known as Golden temple. Golden temple is also considered as a heritage of India. Indian Visa travelers must visit this place before concluding their journey. Upon visiting the temple, Indian visa travelers will understand the culture and the nature of Sikhs. The most auspicious part of the temple that Indian Visa travelers will notice is that the temple has doors in all the four directions depicting the presence of god in all the four direction. It also depicts that we should open our minds and leave all our worries outside while entering the temple. The temple has a holy pond in the center for the visitors to wash out all their worldly evils.

Lake of Gold or Hemkund Sahibji temple is another famous Gurudwara, situated in the Himalayas, 29kms off Joshimath. The Paonta Sahibji Gurudwara is situated in Himachal Pradesh. This was built in the memory of the tenth follower of Guru Gobindh Singhji. Both the temples are well connected through road and Indian visa travelers can visit the temple by road from New Delhi.

One of the most famous Gurudwara, Bangle Sahibji is situated in central Delhi, close to Connaught Circus. Indian Visa travelers can easily visit the temple through any of the transportation modes available in Delhi.

Last but not the least, the Anandpura Sahibji in Chandigarh is located on Chandigarh - Dharmsala - Manali highway. This temple is very famous among India Visa travelers because of the history of Sikh religion associated with it.
