Ladakh is the land of golden clouds and divine monasteries. It is exceptional in its natural and serene beauty and atmosphere. Ladakh is surrounded by two sides of the majestic and great mountain ranges, the Himalayas and the Karakoram. It is famous for its divine monasteries, gushing rivers and beautiful glaciers. It is located in the mountainous region of Jammu and Kashmir, the northern most state of India. Ladakh is approachable both by air and road.

Smaller in area than Scotland, however, this place is the largest and least populated region of Jammu and Kashmir. The people of this region are mixture of Buddhists and Muslims. The majority of the Buddhist population is in the east, close to China border, while majority of Muslim population is in the north and west. Buddhist places are major attractions for tourists to relish.

Leh Palace: Leh is an old and historical town and served royal capital city of the old kingdom. It is also famous for a nine storey palace built by king Singe Namgyal in the 17th century. Its architecture reflects ancient Tibetan architectural style and is situated at the base of Leh. Government of Ladakh has declared it as a heritage site. Above the palace at the Namgyal hill is the Victory Tower built in the honor of those who sacrificed their lives for Ladakh's victory over the Balti armies of Kashmir in the early 16th century.

Shanti Stupa: The stupa was constructed by Japanese Buddhist organization in 1985 to promote world peace. It is 3 km away from fort road and is located on the hilltop at Changspa. This magnificent white domed structure offers astounding views of sunrise and sunset. It looks dazzling at night time under the beautifully illuminated lights and glittering atmosphere.

Skara: Skara is a pretty and beautiful village of Leh where one can admire the earthen battlements of Zorawar Singh's forts, now housing army barracks.

If you can stay for few months then you should volunteer and join an NGO, which are mostly centered at Leh and many foreigners participate as volunteers.

Leh offers many meditation courses and centers with main office at Leh. The famous meditation centre is "Choglamsar" in Leh.

Festivals of Leh and Ladakh are the major attraction for tourists for which they reserve a place in advance. Lively and colorful atmosphere is the characteristic feature of these festivals. Hemis Gompa is the most celebrated festival of Ladakh. It is celebrated every year in the month of May. Locals as well as foreigners enjoy and participate in the festival. Enthusiastic and vibrant dances are the hallmark of this festival.

Ladakh is an ideal place for trekking. It ranks second in the list of best trekking spots in India. This land is blessed with many beautiful trekking spots. Every year trekking festival is organized and many tourists and locals participate in it.

One gets a chance to explore the natural beauty and wildlife of Ladakh through trekking. One enjoys Trekking in Ladakh at its best. Ladakh with its snow-laden peaks, gushing rivers, divine monasteries and majestic mountains is one of the desirous and most beautiful places of visit in India.

The mesmerizing natural beauty of Ladakh is enticing for travelers and visitors and they crave to visit the place again and again.
