Siem Reap City Centre Shopping
Siem Reap has become a top choice tourist destination with its large number of restaurants and hotels. Siem Reap’s city centre hotels offer some of the best locations for shopping. The city centre is an excellent place to purchase great souvenirs such as handicrafts, silks or any of the local textiles.
As the amount of tourists visiting the city increases, so does the quantity of quaint shops, galleries and delightful boutiques. Siem Reap has kept its charm as traditional shopping destination, and unique local souvenirs stores remain easy to come by.
If you head to Phsar Chas, the Old Market, you can shop in one of the largest traditional covered markets in the city. It is here where you will find countless unique items and hidden treasures that cannot be found in the large malls or private boutiques. If you seek knick-knacks, silk work, carvings, traditional instruments, baskets or other Cambodian items, the Old Market is a good choice.
If you happen to just miss this market, the Angkor Night Market offers similar products and guarantees a great friendly shopping experience. This market is located just off Sivatha, which is easy to find on your local map, and is open until late into the night.
Aside from traditional markets, Siem Reap is bursting with photo galleries, art shops and private boutiques. These are easily found by strolling through some of the more popular streets and areas of the city’s centre. In the Old Market area you will find high quality items that focus on NGO-based crafts, Asian creations, photography and speciality items like teas and spices.
