Established around the turn of the 20th century, the coastal resort city of Hurghada is the pride of Egypt and people travel here from all over the world. Of course, being situated on the edge of the Red Sea, water sports are popular in Hurghada, while many people are content to simply soak up the sun on the sand. However, Hurghada also offers a wide range of other attractions, from museums and aquariums to stunning islands to explore.

Outdoor attractions:

Hurghada’s beaches

Famed the world over for their natural beauty, Hurghada’s beaches come in all shapes and sizes. While all the beaches in this part of the world feature fine golden sand and clear aquamarine waters, atmospheres vary from beach to beach and the public beaches are generally rather crowded, while those who pay to chill out on one of the private beaches will find plenty of space to stretch out in and soak up the sun.

Under Water Gardens

Staff at most of the cheap Hurghada resorts can arrange tours of the Under Water Gardens for their guests, and this is the perfect way to discover the diverse of flora and fauna that lurks beneath the surface of the Red Sea. While scuba diving and snorkeling are excellent ways to explore the under water world here, viewing the colourful creatures that inhabit the Red Sea through glass bottomed boats is also a popular activity with families and those who prefer to stay dry.

Anfish Mountain

Offering stunning views of the city of Hurghada, Anfish Mountain offers visitors the opportunity to fully appreciate the diverse range of the area’s landscape. While the beauty of the Red Sea can be glimpsed in the far distance, the arid desert can be seen to the east, while the whole of Hurghada city is also spread out beneath those who stand on the summit of this mighty mountain.

Shadwan Island

Fortified by Egypt during the War of Attrition, Shadwan Island has played an important role in Egypt’s history. However, now this tiny rocky island is extremely peaceful and this is a popular destination with divers and snokellers as a large number of companies in Hurghada offer trips here. People travel from far and wide for the opportunity to spot grey pilot whales, while a broad spectrum of other marine life can also be found here.

Roman Mons Porhyrites

The importance of the Roman Mons Poryrites site dates back to around 29AD, when special purple rocks were discovered here. This has long been a popular place to visit for visitors to Hurghada as the site is situated in the middle of a vast desert and is surrounded by large mountains. Most cheap Hurghada hotels offer trips to the Roman Mons Porhyrites, and this is the perfect way to gain a real understanding of the importance of this attraction.

Hurghada Marina Boulevard

Offering a large number of places to eat, drink, shop and play, Hurghada Marina Boulevard is a popular place to play after spending the day on the beach. While many visitors will want to warm up with a spot of shopping, party people will find plenty of nightclubs here to dance the night away at.

Indoor Attractions:

Marine Biology Museum

Offering visitors the opportunity to view a vast collection of marine flora and fauna that can be found in the Red Sea, the Marine Biological Museum is one of Hurghada’s most popular attractions. This is a showcase for the richly diverse underwater life of the Red Sea and visitors have the opportunity to study the marine life here and learn all about it from expertly presented displays.
