Kathmandu Pokhara Dharan the Three Glittering Gems of Nepal
Nestled quaintly in between two giants India and China the country of Nepal is a favorite haunt of adventure seekers. If one may ask why so? Then the answer need not be said for this country is home to eight of the world’s highest peaks including the great Mount Everest which is the tallest peak of the world and they speak for themselves. With the highest peaks in its backyard the country has picturesque views scattered all over. With its scenic beauty to fall back on cushioned by the ancient temples and rich culture this place is frequented by travelers from all walks of life who want a bit of adventure, blessings and scenic beauty bestowed on them.
Kathmandu, Pokhra and Dharan are the three places that stand out in the map of Nepal on grounds of tourism.
Kathmandu- this is the capital city of Nepal. This is a place which is mixed with the perfect blend of temples and urban structures which flavors it with an aura of sanctity and bustles with modern life. The city is one of the most sought after Tourist Destinations in Nepal due to a large number holy temples in and around it which are unscathed by the claws of technology. Swayambhunath is one of the holiest stupa of the city that is frequented by Buddhists; the temple has a picturesque view of the city and monkeys too. The Boudha stupa too is an extremely holy place that sanctifies the place. One may wonder why there are so many Buddhist worship places here and the answer to that would be Lord Buddha the founder of Buddhism was born here in Nepal. Also the Buddha Neelkanth which is a statue of lord Vishnu in the sleeping position on the coils of his eleven hooded snake, this place however is meant only for the Hindus. A replica is also built which can be seen by foreigners and the King of Nepal for the original one is forbidden both. The Thamel Street and Freak Street are wonderful places for shopping and to see the modernized way of Nepal which really contrasts to the ancient temples that it houses.
Pokhara- the third largest city of the country and the threshold for most of the treks towards the Annapurna range this place is truly beautiful. The place is well known for the beautiful lakes that adorn the charm of the place. The Phewa, Rupa, Begnas and Dipang lakes are truly beautiful and pristine. Boating is a leisurely pastime activity that can be enjoyed on the lakes while soaking up the beauty of the place. Other places like the bat caves, Gupteswar Mahadev Cave, and Mahendra cave are also places that will arouse your interest here. There are two very special museums here i.e. the International mountain museum and the Gorkha Memorial museum. Activities that are found in this part of Nepal make one of the coolest places to visit in Nepal and some of them would be boating, adventurous white water rafting and paragliding. This place is a must visit place of Nepal.
Dharan- this place of Nepal is famed for its scenic beauty and picturesque views. It is a place that is known for its cleanliness too apart from the beauty it possesses. The places to visit here would be the holy temples of Dantakali, Budhasubba, Pindeshwori and Bishnu Paduka. Also challenge the white rapids of the Tamo River aboard a raft, paddling with all your might and overcome it.
There are so many other places to visit in Nepal other than these above mentioned places that are equally beautiful and majestic. Take a trip to the rugged terrains of Nepal to see nature in its raw form and beauty.
