Madikeri Fort: This magnificent fort has an interesting story of its own. The Fort was previously made out of mud. However, later it was re-built by Tipu Sultan with stone. Here in the fort you will come across two mortar elephants, built life-size. This is the major attractions for tourists visiting the fort. Another amazing fact about the fort is that as you go inside you will find a gothic-style church built during the British rule. It is said that the church was constructed after replacing the temple of Virabhadra in 1855. Today, the church has been re-constructed into a museum.
