The civilization has made us forget the goodness of wild foods. The wild foods, which were essential for survival of the primitive human beings and nomadic people, are being ignored by all from the comfort of canned food. The knowledge about the wild food is waning from the memories. There are many good things attributed to wild foods which have been the friend of living things for many years.

Wild foods can be described as any vegetation that is edible, needs no specific requirements to grow and is found naturally. This category of wild foods includes plants, animals and fungi. The wild food offers a treasure of nutrition which is essential for the well being of human beings. Since the traditional knowledge about these wild varieties is not available, people are scared to use them. In the recent times, people are realizing the importance and value of wild foods and they are getting all the importance they deserve. People are carrying out research about the wild foods and recording the traditional knowledge of the nomadic and tribal people as they are the persons who are more associated with wild foods. For them wild food is the only option many a times and cooking with wild foods has to be done with expertise and knowledge. Most of the wild food can be cooked in the regular way, but there are some wild foods which need special treatment before consumption, failing which they may result in allergies and other minor problems. The best benefit that wild food offers is they are free from chemicals. This is because no chemicals are used to grow them and they will have grown using natural resources. This is the best benefit of wild foods.

The multi benefits of wild foods are their availability in plenty, natural and full of nutrients that are required. Using them also helps in maintaining eco-balance and experimenting cooking with wild food can be fun.
