Career Choices: Courses After 12th Standard
Career can be defined as the crowning glory of a person’s life; it defines a particular person’s achievements and partially the personality as well. It can also be interpreted to relate to a person’s occupation which can be attained by getting some kind of formal education or special education. When teenagers pass their senior secondary education, they are ready to face the real world which lies outside the closed walls of school boundaries where there are no restrictions. The real struggle starts thereafter as there are millions of courses to choose from where the right decision needs to be made by them. Assessing strengths and weaknesses is very important while determining which course should be taken up.
There is a variety of courses ranging from arts and law, finance, business management, mass media and journalism, biotechnology, aerospace engineering, textiles and fashion designing, aviation, hospitality and tourism. It is very important to make the right choice after 12th standard because not just the career depends on it but also a young adults’ whole life as well. This is where a correct assessment of a young adult should be done without any faults as mentioned before. There are specialized courses provided by universities which are also called honors courses: these are related to a particular subject and depend on students’ individual choices as to which one they will opt as their career choice. There are pass courses available as well which have four subjects included in them, although they can be chosen by the students only. If students aren’t interested in pursuing any of the mentioned above then they can apply for vocational courses. These courses are the most sought after courses which include graphic and web designing, travel and tourism, any language diploma or developmental studies and disaster management. Along with these hygiene physiology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, certified computer courses and other technical education are also available to the students. There are new fields of study that have also been recently introduced like oceanology and nanotechnology. Students can also try their hands on corporate law, intellectual rights studies and other various branches of law as well. Petroleum studies and research work are also the booming sides of any industry. Investment banking, accounting and business economics, hotel management, cloth designing and animation are also the fields of study which can be quite beneficial for the prospective students.
There are many courses which have been mentioned above, yet there are many more as well. It all depends on each student’s caliber, which course they want to opt for and make a career out of it. Parents need to play their role effectively here in order to understand their child’s capability and help them out through the thick and thin in such situations. Students need to remember their aim in order to judge what is best for their future and decide carefully about their future prospects with the subject they choose. Above all, choosing a particular subject is the most vital thing because on the basis of it, the entire career of a person gets built up.
