The Streetwear Movement
A movement is a term used to describe a tendency or a trend that encompasses a certain group of people, which may take place over a time period and works to make a principle more well-known. When people talk about streetwear, a lot of people would agree that it is more of a movement rather than just a passing whim or trend in fashion. It is believed to be a culture, a living entity that is gaining more and more popularity nowadays. More and more people are coming to love this style because of the belief that this style is the true expression and reflection of people’s personalities.
Why do a lot of people believe that streetwear is a movement or a culture? This is quite evident in a lot of high fashion brands. In the past, high fashion brands would usually stick to couture and other stuff. But nowadays, many of these brands are actually adapting street wear into their own collections. This is where the influence of this style is very much obvious. The movement has been lovingly embraced by a lot of people in different parts of the world and this could be seen by the increasing number of brands that sell clothes that are of this style.
From Japan, to Australia, to New York, and other parts of the United States, streetwear has become a very popular style. This is not exclusive among the youth, but even for those who belong to the older generation. This style is becoming even more popular in other countries because with the technology of today, even those from other countries could easily purchase clothes from other places. People are also more updated about the current standing of this style due to the internet and the other types of print media.
Where does the style take its origins? A lot of people do not exactly know how streetwear really came to be and stories usually vary from one another. This is the common thing that people know regarding street wear: it has been deeply influenced by music, skateboarding, and the practicality of everyday living. Back in the 80’s, when people did not want to conform with the popular type of fashion then, they found ways by which they could express themselves in unique ways. This is why for those who wish to have a unique sense of fashion, this style is definitely the best one out there.
When it comes to making a statement in fashion, Suyo, Supreme, The Hundreds, and other brands definitely know about being unique. These famous street wear brands make it their goal to serve everybody by making clothes that would really stand out and still be comfortable enough to wear. People could add personal touches to their outfits if they really want to express themselves more. People all around the world are becoming attuned to this style and a whole lot more are researching what this style is all about. Being unique and independent is a choice – and that is what street wear is all about.
