Professional Employer Organization – an Overview
Opening up a HR department within a company is no small ordeal. A professional employer organization is a type of company, which serves medium or small sized business ventures by taking charge of their entire human resources division from the outset. It helps those small or medium sized businesses from investing some really hefty funds into attaining and maintaining additional employees.
The services of an expert professional employment organization generally can be categorized into 4 major types. These include payroll administration, HR administration, benefits administration, and Workers’ Compensation administration.
This section deals mainly with the preparation procedure and distributing of employee payroll. The task may seem to be simple, but in reality it is not so! Several sub sections like preparing of documents that are employee-related, maintaining record related to inquiries, audits, dealing with employee direct deposit schemes, taxes, insurance and other benefits are all critical tasks that need to be dealt with.
Human Resources Administration
Some of the important tasks here are conducting interview sessions, managing candidate handbooks and policies, performing background checks, describing roles and responsibilities to the employees, etc.
Looking after the well being of your employee’s falls under this sub section. One of the best ways to ensure employee retention is to offer benefits and have the correct people in place to be able to manage them.
WCA (Workers' Compensation Administration)
Some of the responsibilities of this sub section are administering and reviewing of claims, introduction as well as administration of safety plans for all employees, and effective communication of employee benefits and care.
You can see that the task of a professional employer organization is quite complicated but at the same time it becomes more effective when falls into the hand of experts.
