Moving to UK can mean so many things to many people but in most cases it could mean a new beginning and more opportunities to get into jobs, better education or soar high in a career. As each and every year passes, more and more people are moving into UK. If you are one of the many people who are interested in immigrating to the UK, then you must be aware of the new immigration rules in UK that was proposed in the year 2011 but will take place on the year 2012. These new rules in immigration is said to affect people who are from various places outside Europe.

Basically, immigration for UK is based on a point system where there are “tiers” and people are grouped according to their skill, educational level and other aspects mostly that has something to do with the possible occupancy they will end up with when in UK.

In the point based system, Tier 1 comes first where highly skilled workers belong. People who fall into this category are investors, exceptionally talented individuals and entrepreneurs. Tier 2 are for skilled workers who have job offers. In this category, people who have graduate level education belong to such as doctors, nurses, teachers and so forth. Tier 3 are for low-skilled workers who are usually people who are certain types of labor jobs that are currently in shortage of manpower. Tier 4 is for students who wish to study in UK and Tier 5 is for temporary workers. It is said that if you happen to belong to higher tiers, applying for immigration to the UK will be much harder because back then 13,000 individuals were granted to stay in the UK but will now be restricted to 1,000 only.

According to statistics, in 2009 alone over 50,000 visas were granted to people whole belonged to Tiers 1 and 2. But with the new immigration rules, UK clearly is reducing the figures by coming up with a higher standard for jobs that will be offered to individuals who can give a better quality of work compared to an average UK citizen. This could really affect people in tier 2 compared to people in tier 1 as people who fall in this category are usually businessmen who come to UK to offer jobs and build companies rather than employ themselves in to a job. Because of this conservative move of the UK immigration, there are a few comments that raise arguments saying that it may affect the economy of UK but on the other hand, the UK government is saying that choosing individuals who are efficient in their job can help boost the economy.

Nonetheless, you always have the option of consulting UK immigration solicitors to give you expert advice and help you out with what to do to ensure that you have better chances of passing the standards of immigration. If you plan on moving to the UK, it would really be helpful if you are well aware of the rules set by immigration and be prepared in order to avoid losing the chance of getting granted with the visa appropriate for the tier you belong to.
