KPTCL or Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited is the state owned statutory body which looks after the electricity supply to the state and is responsible for power transmission in the state and also to some of the neighbouring areas. In accordance with the vast expanse of the state, the responsibilities of the corporation are immense and there is requirement of a large manpower to make the supply of power to different parts feasible.

Apart from power supply, there are other functions such as establishment of new lines, providing electricity supply clearance to new projects, and the provision of proper customer service. With the requirements of manpower in the organisation, it is obvious that the recruitment drive for different posts in the corporation is going on in full swing as and when there is requirement.

When the recruits get into these jobs in KPTCL, they are entering the Karnataka state government, which is known to have good pay packets along with the variety of perks. These jobs are also stable like any other state government jobs.

Recruitment process is carried out by the corporation itself for different posts from time to time. Advertisements are put out on the local dailies and employment news columns in the papers. There is a vast requirement of personnel which is evident from the fact that there is a widespread network of power and electricity distribution. The entire jurisdiction of KPTCL has been divided into 5 zones, each zone having the Chief Engineer as its head.

Further, there are 15 circles headed by superintendent engineer. An executive engineer heads the each of 57 divisions. The total of 270 subdivisions is looked after by the assistant executive engineers, one for each subdivision. These officers are recruited by the corporation to look after the day to day affairs of its functioning, which is quite extensive, looking at the total area of its servicing.

Apart from the officer posts, there are personnel who help in the maintenance, electric supply, meter reading, customer services, complaint handling, etc which allows for the consumers to enjoy the power supply to the best possible extent.

KPTCL is one of such organisation in the state of Karnataka as well as in India, which has garnered a lot of praises in the manner in which it is handling the power transmission and electricity supply in the country. When one single organisation puts up so much of job vacancies, it is obvious of its employability, which further increases the trust of people and their favourability for the jobs.
