Why Switch from IPv4 to IPv6
The basic difference between IPv4 and IPv6 is that IPv4 is in the decimal format whereas IPv6 is in the hexadecimal format. Taking the technology to IPv4 to IPv6 is a new venture. It happened because in the early days of internet, the slots made for internet users were 4 billion. This was definitely not enough and thus the need of IPv6 aroused. The server manufacturers are now working towards producing servers that match IPv6 capabilities. IPv4 has many limitations such as the, IP address allocation is very limited and therefore it is possible to allocate only a few million IP addresses at a time. Compared to IPv6 it is very less. In security concerns, the IPv4 is far behind, as the internet safety is an optional feature in this, which makes the internet venerable to attacks.
There are many advantages when shifting the technology from IPv4 to IPv6, as this will change the face of the internet forever and the speed for downloading and simple functions such as watching a video on the net will increase tremendously. The quality of service provided by most of the ISPs (Internet Service Providers) is not up to the mark. Individuals use the Internet for purposes like chatting over the net, voice or video chats, watching movies and going in for online libraries, which is essential in today’s time. Thus, it is very necessary to live up to the expectations of customers who are going in for these services. Therefore, a change is important to provide better data services and IPv6 is something that can bring about the desirable change.
The basic structure of the internet allows the up gradation of services and quality. Thus, it is important to move on from old technology to new. Moving from IPv4 to IPv6 will greatly benefit not just the common internet users but also huge organizations. However, the change will also create a new type of advancements in the internet. IPv6 is larger and faster compared to IPv4 and it has many other additional features, which makes it the choice of millions who are constantly in search of better services. This is not all. The basic structure is so different that the users will found it more reliable than IPv4.
