What exactly do you know about chillers? If you have one or plan on buying one then you should learn a little information to help understand them better. If you currently own a chiller then it is important to understand what type you have and how to maintain it. If you plan on purchasing one then it is important to understand them so that you purchase the proper one and you also know what the maintenance is on the unit.

In this article we are going to go over what type of chillers there is and what the required maintenance is on the unit. First it is important to understand what different types there are. Well there are two more common types of different types of chillers. These are the two types that we will be focusing on. The first is the absorption chiller. This type can be put into two different groups. The two different groups are single or double effect.

The single effect works with just one generator. The double effect has two generators. The two generators make it possible to have either a low temp or a high temperature depending what you need the unit for depends on what type will best suit you and your businesses needs. Each effects work in different ways. Whether you purchase a single or a double effect they both operate off of thermal energy to cool the water. A very common thing that happens to these types of units is crystallization because the water gets cooled at too high of a temperature. So maintaining the chiller frequently is recommended.

The other type of chiller that you can purchase is the refrigerant. This type also has a high temp and a low temp. It uses the Carnot cycle to run. It runs either of two ways it can be air cooled or water cooled. There are something that you need to take into consideration. It is extremely important to how the unit is designed. Most of these types are custom. So you have to decide the design and the performance you need it to perform at and how much water you need it to cool. All of these factors will determine on how your unit performs.

How to maintain your unit. Well you should hire a professional to come and do the proper maintenance on the unit. You need to make sure that the flow of the water is being pumped at the right speed. It is recommended that it should go at 3 feet per square inch.
