You should check all the services in the house. You should check the heating equipment they should be in a good condition. They should not be very old-fashioned. You must see when it was last serviced as it can be costly to replace. All the radiators must be checked properly. See if the house is well insulated and also double glazed. You must keep in mind all these things because it matters a lot in the long run as this will result in lower bills.

You must check the power points of the house. Are they enough for you? Are they in good condition? Check the state of electric wiring.

The water system in the house should also be checked. Do not forget to run water through all the taps, showers and toilets to check the water pressure.

Things you should beware of:

There are quite a few things which the buyer should beware of. The prospective buyer should always check for any signs of dampness or decay and smell of that sort. For this purpose you should check walls for damp, peeling paper, dark patches etc.

The potential buyer must also notice if the property has any cracks in walls, doors, ceilings, windows. You should also check the paneling and wall tiles in the house.

The buyers should beware of the grating floors as this could mean an underlying problem.

You should never agree to the agent or the owner to rush you into the deal. This is very important that you must not feel shy about asking any questions regarding the property and why they are moving out. Don’t forget to ask about any burglaries around. You should ask the owners about the neighbors. You should also ask about the utility bills and any structural problems with the property.

Being a proposed buyer you have right to ask all these questions from the owner. You have full power of making a right decision.
