Marine Port Orange, TX is currently undergoing a major overhaul thanks to the Port of Orange Transmodal Marine Yard TMY Project. This project is funded in part by the US Department of Commerce in an effort to improve business in the field important and exporting, and may be a brick in the wall of rebuilding the US economy after the recession. Industrial Park Orange, TX and Shipyard Orange, TX will be integral in this project.

Intermodal, for those who aren’t familiar, is a process involving the moving of cargo in unitized modular containers, using several modes of transportation, primarily rail, truck, barge and ship. This is all done without the handling of the freight itself when changing modes of transportation.

This form of shipping is very useful for a number of reasons.

• Expense

• Manpower

• Time

• Efficiency

• Security

To go down these items one by one, expense is one of the first and most important factors. Unloading and reloading the freight in bits and pieces eats up a lot of valuable money. Furthermore, it requires several more employees to work several more hours, and that eats up even more money. Most importantly is time and efficiency: It just makes more sense to save time and money and resources with transmodal shipping at Marine Port Orange, TX.

Finally, you have security. When shipping using the non-transmodal method, you suffer greater risk for breakage, for theft and for other security concerns. In other words, it just makes more sense to use transmodal shipping for moving large quantities of freight.

The TMY Project

The TMY project is focused on improving the shipyard Orange, TX. Among the changes intended for the port…

• A 430 foot bulkhead, facilitating better loading and unloading for containers and cargo

• A loading and staging yard

• A three lane roadway to permit cargo transport

This total renovation of the Port of Orange is going to increase business in the area, create jobs and, hopefully, have some major, positive effect on the local economy and the state and country economies at large.

Additional Benefits

We’ve really only just begun to cover the basic benefits of transmodal shipping. There are, in fact, a lot more benefits than you might suspect to this highly efficient, effective and safe form of transportation. Some of the additional benefits to transmodal shipping include…

Lower Pollution

With fewer steps in the shipping process, less energy is burned by the transportation of each freight. This results in not only faster delivery, but lower pollution and less wasted resources, as well.

Safer Highways

With fewer trips being made by truck, there are less vehicles on the road. This ultimately results in far safer highways for the average motorist. It also ensures that the truckers on the road right now aren’t quite so overworked and don’t have to drive tired.

Safer Workplaces

In traditional shipping, containers are often overstuffed. This can be dangerous during transport. With transmodal shipping, containers can carry far more cargo far more safely than a traditional container.

All in all, this is very good news for the people in and around Port Orange, TX. This means more jobs and safer highways and a stronger local economy.
