Exactly how long has it been since Americans first drove Henry Ford’s Model T? What will Americans be driving long into the future aside from, possibly, flying cars? On the 85th year of the car in the United States, here is a look on what manufacturers today can offer Americans several years from now.

The car has certainly evolved from manual levers to computer-assisted steering, not to mention from bicycle tires to full rubber treads. Over the course of history, people have seen the change in terms of performance, comfort, and ease of handling. As long as mankind needs cars to get them to places quickly, manufacturers will always go back to the drawing board. In fact, they are already designing their masterpieces right now.

Ford 2015 Mustang: The year 2015 is still three years away, but Ford knows that making a car takes time. In the end, once Ford rolls out the new and improved Mustang, the wait will all be worth it. This iconic pony car has been around for nearly 50 years—and it is not about to let up in the fierce car competition.

Ford’s chief creative officer said in an interview with Automotive News that the new Mustang will be out by 2014, coinciding with its 50th birthday. Car fanatics have been playing guessing games on what will the new Mustang offer them. One good guess is its independent suspension and global rear wheel drive platform will be modified to suit global standards.

Chevrolet Corvette C7: Can Chevrolet get even classier with their sports cars such as the tried-and-true Corvette? Chevy designers think they can with the design of the 2014 Corvette in the works. It may be just a slab of clay molded into a prototype for now, but Chevy hopes to make this car out of steel soon. Indianapolis auto dealerships will be among thousands to wait.

Reports say the Corvette C7 will be equipped with a new eight-cylinder engine, featuring a new combustion system and fuel injection. Improvements include a slight increase in power output and a considerable increase in fuel economy. Expected to roll out in the fall of 2013, residents of Indianapolis can always go to a reliable Indianapolis car dealer to get their hands on the Corvette C7.

Car ideas will continue to grow and manifest into cars of the future. If you want to know how the car of the future will look like, visit the Motor Trend website at www.motortrend.com and click on the “Future” tab. It will not be long before indianapolis car dealerships will start selling them.
